Two ladies

Gabriel’s first blog!!!

Two little girls came to the hospital today. I saw the first one being extracted from her mom’s womb. The team tried to wake her up, get her to breath, b ut it never happened. She did not breath the air of this world. She will never suffer abuse from her peers, or need to forgive or be forgiven. Babys are born fine, no guilty or sin attached, heaven will be full of babies.

The second girl, a young school girl, just arrived in the hospital, bleeding profusely from her vagina. The family claims it was caused by an insect, the doctor just told the nurse that the little girl was probably raped. They often have these stories. Hopefully the police can be called if they find evidence. Even if forgiveness happens, its scars will remain forever.

Two ladies were the ones mistreated and verbally assaulted by an angry hospital worker. Now the disrespectful yelling was happening in front of my house’s porch. This attitude is unacceptable and if we don’t do anything I might be the next one being yelled at or punched. After a board meeting the worker shared his side, and received a suspension for a few days. Hopefully he can learn to not yell at people, especially those who came here to serve his people. He asked forgiveness, and forgiveness I gave, as we all err - but forgiveness did not cancel his suspension as he hoped - these few days of reflection are needed in order to save the relation.

Two ladies are the ones here in my household. One has tasted the good and bad of this world. She has seen the best of humanity in the care and faith of her parents, the tasteful and diverse loving friends, her selfless colleagues in self-sacrificial service. She has also seen the worst of humanity on display in the current scandalous fraud from those taking advantage of our house in the US, and here in Chad, where wickedness comes without all the pretty covers that wealthy countries can afford. Can forgiveness happen without paying back what is owed?

The other lady, is a little one. Actually she is getting pretty big, that’s how her brother calls her “Juzona”, Big Juliana… She hasn’t tasted the evil of this world, other than the occasional fevers and diarrhea, only the good pumpkins and tahini have accompanied her unpasteurized mama’s milk supply. How we wish our little girl never have to face frowned eyes, or have accusing fingers pointed at her. How we wished she would never be treated by vile humans as an object to be taken advantage of, or have her integrity compromised. Hopefully she will learn that her worth comes from God, and that she can find fufilment in selfless service to those in need. We pray she will be a better missionary than us, and love God more than we do.

Two feasts for the ladies happened this month. It probably cost the life of a half-a-dozen goats to feed over 400 school girls and 40 hospital workers. Sarah wanted to make sure the ladies got food first, before all the men, students, co-workers and professors. It just doesn’t seem right to have the male professors eat before the girls, in the Woman’s day feast! Anyway, a day later a male nurse was commenting on how this year the food was good, he liked it, as the previous year the women didn’t prepare as well. This year’s feast passed his gastronomical evaluation, I sighed a sigh of exasperation.

Two ladies disputed the love of one man. When Hanna hit the bottom and broke a deal with God, a son was given. The son grew and became priest in Israel. God’s sober message to him was that Eli’s sin would never be forgiven. There are moments when even God doesn’t forgive anymore. Eli neglected his children’s spiritual education and they grew up as vile men, abusers of women even at the Israelite Temple. They rejected God’s ways, reproaches, and just wanted to have their ways. God stood up, and told them, that was it, they would never be forgiven.
